During the city phase of AIYEP in Makassar, I was lucky enough to break up the program with a short internship with the Legal Department at Bosowa Propertindo, a large Indonesian company that also specialises in the property market. Whilst my main responsibility during the internship was providing general assistance with the preparation of legal documents and translating, the exposure that I have encountered during my time at Bosowa was quite broad and beneficial.
During this time Gabrielle Jack and I met with Board members of the Company and gave a presentation in Bahasa Indonesia on the difference between the Australian and Indonesian Legal system in relation to property and land ownership.
Not only has this exposure been a great addition to my professional development but also it will certainly contribute to my wider understanding of the Indonesian legal system and doing business in Indonesia. I would encourage anyone that wants to learn about one of our closest neighbours to consider the AIYEP program when thinking about their future involvement with Indonesia.
