Australia-Indonesia Youth Exchange Program... promoting cross-cultural understanding since 1981

AIYEP 2010-2011

Queensland is the Australian Host

The AIYEP Indonesian group will be hosted in Queensland from mid October to mid December 2010.

Following their orientation, they spend three weeks in the capital city of Brisbane then have a mid-visit break in Noosa. This is followed by three weeks in the regional town of Roma where they will gain a regional and rural perspective.

Indonesian Host Province (to be confirmed)

On the Indonesians' return to Perth they will join their Australian counterparts for a joint orientation in readiness for departure to Jakarta in late December.  They will then proceed to the selected Indonesian province (to be confirmed) for the Indonesian phase of the exchange.

Among their activities they will become involved in a community development project during their village stay. The program concludes in mid-late February 2010.

Study/Career Disciplines

Both the Australian and Indonesian participants have beckoning futures in industry, business and government as well as in fields such as education, health, environmental care and management, law, engineering, arts, the media, tourism and hospitality, and social and community development.

Their host families will receive an insight into the culture, customs and attitudes of their nearest neighbour while helping to promote the bilateral relationship on a personal level.
